Trading Spaces

Trading Spaces is the wildly popular show that takes two pairs of neighbors, supplies them each with $1000, a professional designer, a carpenter and 48 hours in which to redecorate a designated room. Each ‘team” stays at the others home during the transformations and they have no say in how their own room is decorated.

Natalie, along with her mother, sister and cousin teamed up with TRADING SPACES designers to completely redecorate two rooms. Natalie was paired up with her cousin, Stephanie Maines, and designer Hildi Santo-Tomas to tackle her mom’s loft/multi-purpose room, while Natalie’s mother, Tina Maines, and sister, Kim Maguire, worked with designer Vern Yip as they redecorate Natalie’s guest room.

Update On Natalie's Room - After her mother and sister redecorated Natalie Maines’ multi-purpose room on an episode of TLC’s Trading Spaces, the Dixie Chick’s husband Adrian Pasdar disliked the Asian-tinged look. “Adrian is slowly taking things down,” Maines said. “He didn’t like the room. And I’m fine with that, but they worked so hard, I would have liked to have kept it up for a couple of years. I know how we worked on my mom’s room, so I feel sorry for my mom and sister. Every time they come over, we’ve removed something else.” Maines says she’s still in touch with the episode’s decorators, Hildi Santo-Thomas and Vern Yip.

This marked the first celebrity edition of the show. The show aired on April 20, 2001 on The Learning Channel.
