Just got back from seeing Jack Ingram with Gary Allan. Jack still rules!! Love him to pieces. What I liked about this show was he talked about his previous gigs in MN. He talked about his show at our state fair in 1997. I whooped and hollered because I was there. He then talked about if you joined his fan club that night you could meet him. So guess what I did? I joined his fan club! ;D I've been supporting him since 1996 so a fan club really will be nice. Anyway .. moving on to the meet-n-greet.
I said hi to him when I approached and he stopped and looked at my shirt. He goes, "You look like you've been to one of my shows before." And I said yep! I told him about the state fair and how I was there sitting in the second row, in the pouring down rain. He took my hand and gave it a kiss then gave me a hug. I told him that that show is still my favorite show because he jumped off the stage and told me he saw me singing to all his songs. Jack nodded like he remembered that and he goes, "I remember that! Yeah!" LOL So he asked me to spell my name and I did and he signed my photo. I told him I won the shirt I was wearing from him from one of his Twitter contests. He said he remembered seeing my username (after I told him I'm NiciMN). He signed my shirt (even though I didn't want him to lol) with his name and underneath he just wrote "Twitter!" hehe After our picture we said our goodbyes and I said to him, "See you on Twitter!" and he replied "Yeah see you there!" and his manager laughed.

Jack Ingram is da bomb! Okay, now I gotta try and sleep now. lol

Hey, Nici, that sounds great! Thanks for sharing :D

It's really cool that you have a connection with Jack going back twelve years - I remember seeing that picture on your site when the rain had been pouring down.LOL. Now you have a really nice present day shot to go with it!

Ah, yes - that's it :D

The guy with the umbrella had the right idea that day LOL

Jack sounds a cool guy - he's well enough established in the business to keep touring and have a loyal fan base - but not so big that he becomes unapproachable. That's probably the best position to have a genuine connection with fans..

We went up to Minneapolis that day early so that we could go shopping at IKEA. I left the store with two new nighstands and a new bed! Lucky me, huh? lol! So we headed for Fine Line Cafe and it was close to 6:00 when we got there and the note said to pick up M&G in hour before showtime. I didn't know when the show started cause everything just said doors opened at 7. The lady told me to come back after 6:30 and they'd let us start getting M&Gs then. So my parents and I walked down the block to a bar and we ate a little there. I had dropped my photo of me and Jack from 1998 so I was panicking. I back tracked and found it lying on the ground over by Fine Line's entrance. Did I mention it had started snowing? Yeah so my photo was still in good shaped but was wet. The waiter at the bar was nice of enough to give me some napkins to dry it off but that wasn't the smartest idea because the napkins stuck to the photo in the end. lol! I did manage to get it all off though. So a little after 6:30 we headed back to Fine Line. There was people starting to wait outside and when we got closer we noticed the whole inside was full of people waiting to get in. So we braved the cold (and my one shoe and sock was soaked from a puddle I stepped in trying to find my photo earlier) ... Finally close to 7 they let us in. I had to make my way over to the Will Call booth to get my lovely green wristbands for the M&G. The lady was like "So which list are you on?" and I was like "What do you mean?" cause I'm not used to hearing those words. lol I then told her I should be on Jack's list so she gave me the wristbands and my mom and I made it inside to find my dad who had saved us a table close to the front.

Drew Peterson was the opening act. A local boy from Elk Rivers, MN. He was great. His songs were hilarious. Check out his MySpace page (http://myspace.com/drewsmusic) for some great tunes. One of the songs, "Iowa City" is what he played. Another one that I enjoyed just cause now it has an NCIS connection is "What Would LL Cool J Do?" ... great song. :)

Meet-n-Greet with Jack
I almost would have missed this if I didn't see folks going in and out of a door. My dad was thinking maybe it was the meet-n-greets so my mom and I headed that direction and we asked the guy. He said it was the M&G so he let us through the door and down the stairs. We passed Jack on the way down the steps cause basically the M&G was in the hallway. I didn't have to wait too long for my turn in line so when it was my turn I said hello and I showed him the photo of him and I from 1998. He kind of remembered it and he started to sign the photo. In the end he signed the photo and the 8x10 I had bought. He asked me to spell my name and after I did he looked at me and asked, "What's your Twitter name?" so I reminded him what it was and he was like "Oh yeah! I've see your name." lol So then we got a picture and he said hello to my mom who didn't want a photo (but then later wished she did, lol, parents...) We then headed back out and back to our seats.

Concert
Jack came out and headed to the stage with loud cheers. His set was great. The folks who worked at Fine Line kept going around telling people no flash photography. So my pics don't look all that great. I did get a great video though. :) Some of the songs I remember him singing (in no particular order): "Biloxi", "Ava Adele", "That's A Man", "Barefoot and Crazy", "Not Giving Up On Me", "In The Corner", "Love You", "Seeing Stars", "Barbie Doll", "Wherever You Are", "Make A Wish", "Picture on My Wall" (so happy when he played that song), "One Thing", "Goodnight Moon", "Keep On Keepin' On" and a little of "Attitude & Driving". This was an awesome show just cause you got to hear stories about each song before he sang them. After he sang all those songs he told the crowd he was staying after to sign autographs and pose for photos which made the crowd excited.

Me on the other hand, I was tired, it was a 2 hour drive home and I had to work in the morning. So the parents and I headed home.
I love seeing Jack in concert and I think my parents enjoyed it. :)

Yep - carrying a bed on your back, and a nightstand in each hand to the concert, it's no wonder you dropped the photo on the way! (LOL)

Seriously, Nici - it sounds as if you had a great day!. I'm glad you found the photo and got to show it to Jack.
Cool that he recognized your Twitter name too!

Drew sounds interesting - I'd not heard of him before, but Iowa City is the best song on that page.
It's good that Jack told the background to his songs - he's an interesting character, in that he's had Mainstream success, but he still keeps up the independent singer/songwriter tradition as well.

(One piece of trivia is that he attended the same College as Martie - though Martie was only there a little while)
